• ½ cup milk
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 T butter
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 quart sweet cherries, pitted, fresh or frozen (berries or peaches)
  • 1/4 t cinnamon
  • splash of almond extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all dry ingredient except cinnamon. Add milk. Blend well. Melt the butter in a 2 or 3 quart baking dish. Pour the batter on top of the melted butter. Heat the cherries in saucepan with ½ cup sugar; add the cinnamon and extract. Remove from heat and pour over the batter mixture. Bake about 35 minutes at 350 degrees F. Serve warm with milk, ice cream or your favorite topping!
