Make your own mixture of nuts and fruits with this granola.
- 5 cups rolled oats
- 2-3 cups raw nuts of your choice
- 1 cup raw hulled sunflower seeds
- 3/4 cup sesame seeds
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, or turbinado
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp seasalt
- 1/2-1 cup unsweetened coconut
- 1 cup dried fruits of your choice
- 3/4 cup Raspberry Blush Applesauce
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
Preheat oven to 300. Set 2 racks in upper and lower thirds of the oven.
Combine oats, nuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and coconut in a large bowl and mix well.
Add applesauce, syrup, honey, and oil and mix well.
Spread the mixture evenly on 2 rimmed cookie sheets.
Bake 35-40 minutes (one sheet on each rack).
Stir and rotate the granola every 10 minutes. When it's an even golden brown, remove from oven, stir well again, and set aside to cool. As it cools it will harden up.
Once granola is cool, add the fruit. Store in airtight container and serve with milk or yogurt.
