- 3 C berries or other fruit in bite-sized pieces fresh or frozen
- 1 C self-rising flour
- 3/4 C sugar or desired substitute sweetener
- 1 C milk
- 6 T butter melted
Preheat oven to 350. Grease an 8x8" baking dish. if more crust is desired add less blackberries.
In a medium bowl stir together flour, sugar and milk; batter will be slightly lumpy. Pour mixture into baking pan.
Pour on the melted butter. Do not mix.
Drop the fruit into the batter evenly across the baking dish; do not mix.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 minutes until golden brown.
The name "cobbler" is thought to come from the resemblance of this dish to a "cobble-stone" street as some of the fruit shows through the top. It couldn't be easier or more delicious!
