Classic Fruit Cobbler

Still delicious after all these years. Works with every fruit and every combination we've tried.

Course: Dessert
Servings: 8
  • 3 C berries or other fruit in bite-sized pieces fresh or frozen
  • 1 C self-rising flour
  • 3/4 C sugar or desired substitute sweetener
  • 1 C milk
  • 6 T butter melted
  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease an 8x8" baking dish.    if more crust is desired add less blackberries.

  2. In a medium bowl stir together flour, sugar and milk; batter will be slightly lumpy. Pour mixture into baking pan.

  3. Pour on the melted butter. Do not mix.

  4. Drop the fruit into the batter evenly across the baking dish; do not mix.

  5. Bake in preheated oven for 50 minutes until golden brown.

Recipe Notes

The name "cobbler" is thought to come from the resemblance of this dish to a "cobble-stone" street as some of the fruit shows through the top. It couldn't be easier or more delicious!
